Blown Away!

Hello to you all at Colourkinesis

Just thought I had to drop you guys a line to comment on your performance at the Brickmakers (Norwich) in November 2006.

I have to say I was totally blown away. Not only with your onstage performance, but your total professionalism. The sound you produced sent the most melodic and soulful vibrations through my ears that I have heard in years.

Sorry I haven't been able to write to you sooner. But I've been working away in Amsterdam, doing some promotional work over the Christmas period, helping a friend (whom works for a big record label in Holland)

Over a few beers I told my friend about what I had seen a few days previous at the Brickmakers.

Just to let you know I am trying my hardest to drag him away from the flatlands of Holland and pop over and check out what I believe is the most dynamic band in recent years.

Am I right in saying you do not have a record deal as yet. As I wouldn't want to offend or stand on anyone's toes if you already have something ongoing or lined up.

I will keep an eye out for your gigs in 2007.

Kind Regards

Scott Falconer,

Kings Lynn (Nr Norwich)

Yesterday was my friends birthday and we decided to have a meal, then onto Club Riga to see Who's Who perform, before we need our Zimmer frames and rocking chairs!

All I can say is that we regrettably missed the start of your show and probably the first song. The non smoking venue was good, one, for health, and two, I could see your performance. Suffice to say we came away from the venue with encouragement that we have just listened to a really excellent and authentic Rock/Indie band. I just want to say, The CD is great, The Lyrics are meaningful, well sung by Steve and Sophie, although, I hope I don't offend you Steve but Sophie is more pleasant on the eye! that also includes Gary, Marcy The Guru and JP. Seriously though, you have a great sound, abundance of talent in performing and writing your own material. I'm sure you have been told this on many occasions, and i hope you go from strength to strength, I will tell my friends to look out for you if they have not already seen your band.

Anyway I will close for now on a final point, we enjoyed your show more than Who's Who.

I wish you every success in 2007

Clive

Hi Guys, I was at the Riga Bar last night as the start to the Xmas celebrations… what a way to start them.. You were absolutely AWESOME.

I was there with my brother and another friend and that was the general consensus of us all. I got hold of one of your CD’s and so far I have not stopped playing it. It will be going onto my MP3 soon as well.

I’m making sure that the signed photo stays in top condition as well that could be worth a few £££’s when you get your first No1 in the charts!

Looking forward to seeing you live again as soon as possible!!

Merry Christmas to you all

Alistair

The support act for the night were a young band called "Colourkinesis". I too was impressed, with all the marketed bands around today these four guys and a girl just need to be in the right place at the right time to be snapped up, they are quite simply a breath of fresh air.

Fronted by a six foot plus singer they perform pulsating original pop tunes with catchy lyrics, infectious guitar riffs and top class harmonies. Speaking to their manager they are not afraid of putting the hard work in either, touring the length and breadth of the country for their cause .

Again watching the audience (always a good barometer) I could see everyone one thoroughly enjoying what they were listening to, and at the end of the gig they were inundated by people wanting to know more, and to purchase various merchandise.

Standard procedure

If I had any faith in this country's record industry to find, nurture, support and encourage new talent, I would know that Ck's future is assured, but what do we see? Plenty of good, but often mediocre bands getting plenty of air time, and Ck being completely overlooked. What is going on? Is it just another example of this country shooting itself in the foot and ignoring real talent? or is it just a matter of time before the FAB FIVE! become recognised for writing great songs and producing great live performances?

The Standard gig was another wonderful experience for any fans of their superb songs and showmanship, and show-woman ship, Sophie singing her heart out on Bedlam despite being under the weather, and her harmonies with Steve hitting the heights once again. CK,you are a wonderful band, rarely since I started watching live bands in 1971 (Mick Abraham's at Aylesbury!) have a new act captured my imagination like you did last Autumn at this venue, and I wish you every success in your career, you thoroughly deserve it.

Steven

Hi folks, I was one of hundreds of people that were astounded by your performance at the Basildon festival.I went there expecting the Blues brothers act to be the best of the day but was amazed hearing you for the first time. You knocked the socks off them all!

I've been to loads of festivals like Princes trust's at Hyde park, Knebworth, Reading etc, but nowhere have I come across hearing a band for the first time and been so impressed.

At the moment I don't know your names so please forgive any insult. The singing was great ( so nice to hear a singer that doesn't whinge ), lead guitar was excellent. One of the best bits on the day and on your ep Sex, Drugs & Lies was the backing singing by the young lady. It complimented the songs but was of a quality that made you want to listen to the track again just to hear her voice. In all a great sound and I look forward to seeing you perform again as soon as I'm able.

Good luck to you all from

Hey Steve, loved the gig at rock garden in covent garden. You guys rocked! As per our discussion after your set i would very much like it if you were able to come and play at my farewell on sept 9 in beckenham.Beckenham venue is definitely music friendly... And it should be a great night!THIS IS CONFIRMATION, cant wait to have you guys(and lovely lady) rock the place.I have spoke to most of the people that were at rock garden with me and everyone is excited and word is definitely spreading. Ant and mike are going to be there are they are excited also. This is going to be the best farewell ever! Bring it on.Thank you so much for this!Ben

hi guys saw you at the standard supporting who's who you are by far the best band ive seen supporting who's who, some great songs especially that amanda one, really good and the lead guitarist is amazing, its so refreshing to see a band who produce that sort of music it was really good... have you guys got any sort of deal if not then it can't be far away, keep it up im gonna try and get me mate to come down and see you in covent garden. cheers

Hi You guys

We saw you last night at the Club Riga Southend.

We were knocked out! For a support band to play their own material usually spells doom and gloom or is the signal for everyone to hit the bar but we were knocked out by both the band and the material. There was an instant hook in every song and we were blown away'

We drove up from Ipswich to watch The Jamm but returned talking about Colourkinesis.

Any chance of you guys doing some gigs up here. Somewhere like The Milestone in Ipswich would be great.

Anyway we didnt get hold of your CD demo although our mate did. Could you let us have a copy and we'll burn loads and tell our friends. And if the single Annie is available in any form please forward a copy.

Best of luck for the future. World domination beckons!

Cheers

Paul Lazarus

good morning!

thank you for a wonderful set at the Riga Bar last night. My husband and i spoke to you at the end of your gig-it was our first big night out since our beautiful baby boy max was born 6 months ago and you made it great! the Jamm were a bonus! We hadn't heard of you before but i'm pretty sure you will notice us two almost oldies bopping around at your next gig!!

Hello,

I'm pleased to say that i was fortunate enough to see you play together, last night.

I was able to get one of your free C.D.'s, sorry, i thought of asking you all to autograph it for me.You were right, The Jamm were fantastic. Everytime, that i thought i had a chance to get to where you were standing. The dancefloor erupted, and anyway, you seemed to be enjoying hearing the music of my teens, almost as much as i was.

My ladyfriend was very impressed, with your look, musical ability, one of the songs very much reminded both of us of The Charlatans and Stone Roses in it's feel. We agreed, that your lady singer (Sophie Jacobs) has a very good voice, reminding me of Suzanna Hoff, with abit of Louise Wener or Justine Fischman thrown in for good measure.

I'm writing this blind having not looked at this website yet, i'm only going by my blurred alcoholic memories, after about 2 and a half hours sleep, of last night.

I don't know if any of you write the music/lyrics, to the songs, but, they definitely have that very Englishness in the style of lyric, that has served many bands (The Jam, Paul Wellers writing especially, Damon and Noel though they seem to approach it from different angles), so well. Both here and in the Far East. America being a market all its' own.

Overall, i was glad i didn't leave getting to The Twist until any later. I was not disappointed, and i think if anyone that is in the slightest moved by memories of The Jam (it's hard to find many of our age group that aren't), and still loved that style of music through Blur, Oasis, and more lately, the newer bands, The Ordinary Boys, Kaiser Chiefs, (too many good bands these days to list them all, they know who they are), you may enjoy Clourkinesis.

One thing is certain, if you don't see them live, you won't know.

If anyone that's seen them live wants to take issue with anything i've stated about Colourkinesis' ability to play and deliver the goods live, i say go along to the next gig in your area and listen again with fresh ears.

If Colourkinesis, would like to play the 14th annual Mersea Island Scooter Rally. I for one will be supporting them with a vote of confidence at the next Colchester District Vespa and Lambretta Club Meeting. I may be able to swing a vote from some of the other six or seven club members that were there last night.

 Best Wishes

  Spencer (Ben) Payne
